What is a HydraFacial?

A HydraFacial is a non-invasive skincare treatment that uses patented technology to cleanse, exfoliate, extract impurities, and hydrate the skin. It combines the benefits of hydradermabrasion, chemical peels, and automated painless extractions.

What are the Benefits of a HydraFacial?

At our medical spa near Palo Alto HydraFacial offers immediate improvement to the skin’s tone, texture, hydration, and overall appearance with no downtime or painful treatment. While treatment is personalized using special boosting serums, the HydraFacial produces consistently beautiful results for clients of all skin types and tones. HydraFacial Procedure

Discover Our Custom Formulas

A HydraFacial works through a multi-step process: cleansing and exfoliation, gentle acid peel, vacuum suction extraction, and hydrating serum application. This process helps to remove dead skin cells, extract impurities, and infuse the skin with moisturizing and nourishing serums.

With five beautiful skincare rooms and five devices for HydraFacials Palo Alto patients coming to Total Glow are able to receive their treatment now. Unlike other practices where clients must wait weeks or even months, we are ready to give you the glow you want. Every HydraFacial is customized to the client, but will follow the same basic steps:

Step 1

Each treatment starts with Visia, a digital photo analysis of your skin and personal skin care consultation to understand the root of your skin concerns.

Step 2

Your customized Palo Alto HydraFacial includes a cleansing, gentle exfoliation of dead skin cells, along with a salicylic acid or glycolic acid peel to dislodge deep debris and prepare your skin for extractions of congestion—from blackheads and impurities. This helps to refine pores, clear acne, and prevent the formation of new breakouts.

Step 3

In this phase, HydraFacial MD®’s gentle vacuum suction device removes any impurities or gunk that may be clogging up your pores. This healthy alternative to “popping” clogged pores leaves your skin looking and feeling clean and gorgeous!

Step 4

The last phase is for hydration, which infuses antioxidants and hyaluronic acids. This is followed by exclusive Environ Vitamin Therapy for facial lymphatic drainage and targeted boosters for skin concerns—the Platinum of HydraFacials. This step in particular makes treatment significantly more potent and results exponentially more noticeable.

Who is a Candidate for HydraFacial Treatment?

In addition to the comfort and efficacy of HydraFacial treatment, perhaps one of the reasons it’s become so popular is its ability to treat clients of all ages and skin types. For example, teenagers prone to hormonal acne can benefit from this game-changing treatment just as much as older clients who would like to treat concerns such as wrinkles and sun damage. However, some clients may not be candidates for HydraFacial treatment, including those with rosacea, sunburns, autoimmune diseases, skin cancer, or active rashes or infections. In addition, pregnant clients should postpone their treatment.

HydraFacial Recovery

While the HydraFacial requires no real recovery, you should allow your skin to rest for the remainder of the day. This will allow your skin to absorb all of the nutrients delivered during treatment. The following day, you may apply makeup as normal.

Terrie personally trains our Total Glow aestheticians for two months before they do even the simplest procedures.

She trains them for over six months before they deliver deluxe treatments. This hands-on training features real world application—ensuring our providers are not only proficient in the technical delivery of procedures, but also that they understand the theories and concepts behind skin types and skin treatment. This well-rounded approach to training ensures the standard is never compromised.

HydraFacial
Frequently Asked Questions

Risks and side effects associated with the HydraFacial are rare and minimal. However, some clients experience mild skin sensitivity after treatment. As the HydraFacial is designed to clear pores, some clients may experience “purging” after treatment. This minor side effect happens due to your skin pushing out excess sebum and is an indication that your treatment was effective. This side effect typically improves with ongoing treatment.

Hydrafacial treatments can typically be received once a month. This frequency allows for optimal skin health and maintenance, as it helps to cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate the skin effectively without causing irritation or over-exfoliation. However, the ideal frequency can vary based on individual skin types and concerns. Some people with specific skin issues, like acne or hyperpigmentation, might benefit from more frequent treatments initially.

No. Not only is the HydraFacial pain-free, but most clients find it extremely relaxing. While other extraction methods involve pinching and pressure, HydraFacial’s ability to clear pores using suction allows for better results with more comfortable treatment.

Yes, you can combine HydraFacials with other med spa treatments, but the suitability and timing will depend on the specific treatments and your individual skin needs. Before combining treatments, it's important to consult with a skincare professional. They can create a customized treatment plan based on your skin type, concerns, and the specific treatments you're interested in.

It's recommended to avoid using any exfoliating treatments or products (like Retin-A, glycolic acid, etc.) for at least 48 hours before your HydraFacial. Also, avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning for a few days prior to your treatment.
